Welcome to the 2024 Southend Urban Landscape Open 28th and 29th September 2024

Exciting news if you are a plein air landscape amateur or professional artist, back for its 2nd year.

Come down to Southend and create an image of the urban landscapes around Southend Pier.

What’s it all about then?

The Southend Urban Landscape Open is a two day event.

Open to all.

Weekend of the 28th and 29th September 2024

An opportunity to create with others, images of the iconic landscape surrounding Southend Pier.

Prizes awarded for the following:

Best in show.

Reserve.

Third.

The Process

Register your interest to take part and pay your £15 entry fee.

Registration Open from 31st July 2024 to 27th September 2024.

You can register on the day for £20.

Note: All communication will be via Email only. Please leave your telephone number for if we have to get hold of you on the day.

Saturday 28th September 2024 Twenty One Venue

Make your way to Twenty One venue, at the base of the pier, sign in and get your canvas/boards stamped between the hours of 9am to 11am. Then you head off to one of our various painting locations all in close proximity to the venue.

You have till 4pm to return your paintings to Twenty One Venue, no artwork will be accepted after this time.

All paintings need to be returned with the following clearly labelled on the reverse:

We will take the work in and arrange a one day display for the next day Sunday 29th September 2024.

Sunday 29th September 2024 Twenty One Venue

10am - 4pm Exhibition of all paintings open to the public all welcome.

Judging will take place during the morning and prizes awarded.

4pm - 5pm sharp. All paintings collected and taken away.

(Note we cannot post paintings back)

Details Details

All types of medium are accepted.

Painted boards/canvas must be able to be hung on a hook (important) with ideally string/wire on the back. It is acceptable for wet paintings to be put into a frame with a string across the back. We will not have the facility to put wet paintings on a shelf.

Each artist can paint as many boards/canvas as they wish but all must be painted plein air within the hours of 9am to 3:30pm on the day of the competition.

Maximum size of the painting is 600mm square.

If a painting is sold a 20% commission will be taken.

Judging will take place Sunday am.

Weather

Unless it is extreme Weather the event will go ahead, if not we will issue a rescheduled date and your entry will stand for then.

Entry fees are non refundable

If your painting is purchased on the Sunday, then the buyer will be able to take it there and then, unless it is a show winner. All show winners work can be collected at 4pm that day.

We will handle the payment and pay you within 3 working days minus 20% commission.

All unsold paintings must be collected on the Sunday between 4-5pm.
